My name is Des — and my work has never been about career shifts or skill accumulation.
It's about becoming the kind of person who can hold complexity with grace, and transform it into something that helps others live more clearly, and more gently.

I was born in South Africa, forged in this world, and reawakened in San Diego. My path has carried me across cultures, disciplines, and six continents — teaching me that true sanctuary is both inner and outer: a space where clarity, beauty, and intention meet.
I do this work to honor my mom. Her love, her kindness, and her generosity — and my father's precision are carried into every engagement. And I believe — because I have lived it, that no one does this alone. Every version of myself that has grown into something better did so because a village of teachers, mentors, healers, and guides held space for it. That community is the root of this practice. It is why The Village Store is named what it is, and why the people I serve are never alone in it either.
